- Normal hours are 8 a day or 48 a week. Overtime can't be more than 2 hours a day, or 144 hours in total over 3 weeks.
- Overtime is paid at your basic hourly wage plus at least 25%; between 10 pm and 4 am plus at least 50% (not for shift workers).
- If you work on your rest day you get another day off, or your basic wage plus at least 50%.
- Some senior and supervisory staff can't claim overtime. Not paid? Complain to MOHRE (600590000) or through its app.

How is overtime calculated in the UAE?+
At your basic hourly wage (basic รท 30 รท 8) plus at least 25%, or plus at least 50% between 10 pm and 4 am, under Article 19 of the Labour Law.
Do allowances count for overtime?+
No. Overtime is worked out on the basic wage only, unless your contract says otherwise.
